I originally started this blob to keep people up to date but ultimately I did not use it for two reasons.
1, most of my Family and Friends are Facebook only users.
2, As with this season my employment contract states
"Please note that whilst using social media such as Twitter, Facebook and others you must not mention anything that could be deemed to be detrimental to the name of ********** Ltd" Which Does need to be taken on board because I know for a fact that they do check.
This time around I see I've got a choice of 4 methods:
1,This Blog:
I find this easy and quick to use with a lot of personal control over it
It is open to all so will not have to watch what is said.
Not everyone is familiar with it, does that matter?
2, Facebook:
Everyone is on it.
Not much room for controlling and editing.
Open to all unless it's a secret group.
3, Tweets:
Quick and easy
Limited with no photos.
Less popular than the blog
TBH I dont get it.
4, Forum (Snowheads)
It is open to all so will not have to watch what is said.
Open to Forum trolls and can lose the thread
No room for controlling and editing.
My thoughts are to dismiss open facebook and the Forum as uncontrollable.
Therefore I could try Tweets for quick updates and this blog for weekly updates.
Still got some Hmmm ingto do however I got time to see how it goes.
Any thoughts from my avid readers :P
=========================================================================
I was running out of web based storage for my photos so to create, as it turns out, a lot of room I have reduced the size of the photos. My plan is to upload full size ones with the new post then a week later or when I remember to I will reduce them in size.
I really liked your facebook updates last season...good to see what you were up to so it's nice to see you're planning ahead! I don't tweet and am not likely to but love reading blogs so my vote would be for fb or blogging whichever is easiest for you to get onto when halfway up a mountain!!
ReplyDeleteSnowheads *can* lose the thread?! Oscar for understatement ;) Not sure where you would post anyway, Snow Reports?
ReplyDeleteTwitter - why use something you don't get? And I would think less than ideal unless you can post v little and v often which would depend on time available and connectivity. Also depends how many people tweet in the first place (I don't)
I would think this blog and your FB group were the most suitable for the type of posts you make. I would think you'd have to be more careful what you post on this blog, especially as it links to open FB.
A thought did occur to me, I will be turning Data roaming off over there so I will not be twitting from the lifts.
ReplyDeleteSo it is looking more like here for general posts and the facebook group for Rants.
By the looks of google+ that might be the way what with the circles thing but until it becomes avilable and I can test it I will stick to the plan.
Where I think/hope I will be living is within a minute of free wifi so even if my appt. does not have it I will be able to post a bit more often than last season.
Have you considered getting a local PAYG SIM?
ReplyDeleteEmma the company will provide a local phone, but it usually is blocked or limited to just company numbers so not got a real need for one just to talk to you lot :P
ReplyDeleteThat's us told then ;) :D
